PDL’s member benefits are designed to support pharmacists in managing and minimising risks throughout their careers. Our Practice Alerts, guides and resources also cater to professional development, formulated by experienced Professional Officers and based on current and emerging risks in pharmacy. Our members have access to 24/7 incident support, so they can have peace of mind at work, every day.
Designed to meet the specific insurance needs of individual Australian pharmacists.
PDL members are afforded cover under the PDL Master Policy. This policy has been developed to meet the specific insurance needs of individual pharmacists and complies with the Pharmacy Board of Australia’s requirements for professional indemnity insurance (PII) arrangements under the National Law. To meet the pharmacist registration standard and ensure the livelihood and reputation of our members are protected, the PDL Master Policy includes $20 million for Professional Indemnity, Public and Products Liability cover.
Receive confidential incident support from our experienced pharmacist Professional Officers.
Our Professional Officers are available 24/7 to speak to members who need incident support or advice. It is a confidential, one-to-one service that is not punitive or judgemental and inhibits the likelihood of a claim occurring. Our Professional Officers are experienced pharmacists so they understand and can relate to the role our members play in the pharmacy profession.
Always notified on the latest trends and announcements, backed by data and informed by PDL incident reports.
PDL members receive regular emailed notices called Practice Alerts that focus on a topic or area of risk to be aware of. They are prepared reactively, using trends from recent incident reports to PDL, in a bid to help other PDL members avoid an incident. They can be national alerts or state-specific if connected to local legislation.
Education delivered by PDL and affiliated professionals on relevant pharmacy information.
PDL members have access to a wide range of guides and resources that have been developed to support pharmacists in their daily practice. Using common scenarios and often created in collaboration with other subject matter experts, our practical tools and checklists help to reduce the likelihood of an incident occurring, as well as guidelines for managing situations when something has gone wrong.
Subscription to the AJP, including access to CPD activities (standard $253 p.a.).
To continue to provide our members with the latest practice news, commentary and education, PDL members are automatically registered to AJP.com.au – the home of everything that’s relevant to pharmacists and a fully owned subsidiary of PDL. This registration provides PDL members with free access to all sections of AJP.com.au, including CPD-accredited articles and activities, the AJP e-mag, podcast and webinars.
Free access to all membership benefits.
We want to support pharmacy students and interns while they learn, so we offer complimentary PDL membership with all the benefits. This provides access to AJP.com.au, AJP e-mag, PDL guides and Practice Alerts for an insight into the profession and ways to minimise incidents. Plus, we have a Student Grant Program to enable industry engagement at conferences and events.
PDL partners with leading professionals in insurance, law, education and community to offer a comprehensive support service for our members.
We are stronger when we work together. We partner with specialist service providers to best meet the needs of our members and collaborate with other pharmacy organisations for the benefit of the profession. We provide support through sponsorship and awards and invest in research and education as we work together to drive safer medication management for all Australians.
We've been supporting and protecting Australian pharmacists since 1912.
PDL was founded on a need for greater pharmacy support and protection. That was in 1912 in a small Victorian town by the name of Echuca. Today we are Australia’s leading member-based pharmacist organisation with over 31,000 members. We are carrying on our founding legacy through nationwide support services and Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance.
If you are a pharmacy student or intern, the PDL membership fee and insurance premium are both waived, so you can enjoy a complimentary membership with access to all member benefits.
Student members will also have access to the PDL Student Grant Program.
We understand that it can be difficult for pharmacists starting out in their career, which is why we offer a discounted rate during your first five years of general registration.
